When the 2026/27 season starts
The new season kicks off on Friday 28 August 2026, with the rest of matchday 1 played across that opening weekend. It runs all the way to Saturday 22 May 2027, the traditional final day when all nine games kick off at the same time. In between there are 34 matchdays and 306 matches — the complete domestic season, from the late-summer opener to the May finale.
One thing to know up front: early-season kickoff times are provisional until the DFL confirms each matchday, usually a few weeks in advance. Broadcasters pick their live games, and midweek European and cup fixtures push league dates around, so a schedule you note down in August won't still be right by October.
